Electronic Communication
Confidentiality cannot be guaranteed through electronic communication such as text messages, email, or messaging apps.
While I aim to respond in a timely manner, immediate responses cannot be guaranteed.
Electronic communication should not be used to discuss therapeutic material. These methods are intended for administrative communication only, such as scheduling.
Any communication that occurs outside of scheduled session time is not considered part of the formal therapeutic process.
Services delivered through electronic means, including phone, internet, email or messaging platforms, may be considered telehealth services.
By choosing to use electronic communication, you acknowledge that:
You may withdraw consent to telehealth communication at any time without affecting your right to future care.

No identifiable information or images will be shared with researchers or third parties without your consent.
Telehealth services carry potential risks, benefits, and limitations.
Termination of Therapy
Ending a therapeutic relationship can sometimes be difficult. A thoughtful termination process helps provide closure and reflection.
The length of the termination process will depend on the duration and intensity of the work undertaken.
Therapy may be terminated following discussion if:
The therapeutic process is no longer being effectively used
Payments are not maintained
It is determined that another form of support may be more appropriate
Therapy will not be ended without first discussing the reasons where possible.
If therapy ends, I will aim to provide a list of alternative qualified professionals if appropriate.
If a client fails to schedule or attend sessions for an extended period without prior arrangement, the professional relationship may be considered discontinued for legal and ethical reasons.
Informed Consent for the Therapeutic Process
General Information
The therapeutic relationship is both personal and professional. Establishing a clear understanding of expectations helps support a safe and productive process.
This agreement provides a framework for our work together. If you have any questions about the information provided, you are welcome to discuss them at any time.
The Therapeutic Process
Choosing to begin therapy is a positive and important step.
The outcome of therapy depends largely on a client's willingness to participate in the process, which may sometimes involve emotional discomfort.
Exploring past experiences and feelings can bring up emotions such as anger, sadness or anxiety.
Therapy is not a quick fix, and results cannot be guaranteed. However, I commit to offering support, understanding and guidance as you work towards meaningful change over time.
Confidentiality
All session content and relevant information shared during therapy will be kept confidential unless written permission is provided to release information to a named individual.
However, there are legal and ethical limits to confidentiality. These include situations where:
A client threatens or attempts suicide or there is serious risk of harm to themselves.
A client threatens serious harm or death to another person.
There is reasonable suspicion of abuse involving a child under 18.
There is suspicion of abuse involving an elderly or vulnerable adult.
There is suspected neglect involving a child or vulnerable adult.
A court issues a lawful subpoena requiring disclosure.
Therapy information is required as part of court proceedings or legal reporting.
At times, I may consult with other professionals to ensure the best possible support. In these situations, identifying information will not be shared.
If we encounter each other outside of the therapy setting, I will not initiate contact in order to protect your privacy. If you choose to acknowledge me first, I will respond politely, but we will avoid discussing therapy in public spaces.
